Note: Well before Radica released the EXILES monsters on bonus cards, these monsters were independently discovered and published as "Secret Monsters" in The Monster Book of Bar Codes. The original Secret Monsters and EXILES monsters are the same.

To detect these monsters, you need a hand-held Skannerz Commander toy (to detect the first set), or a red, green, or blue original Skannerz toy (to detect the second set). Skannerz toys are produced and trademarked by Radica China, Ltd. This purchase does not include a Skannerz or Commander toy and is not affiliated with Radica.

Parents, Take Note! This book makes a wonderful substitute for the random barcodes found in your pantry. By simply removing the index, the barcodes become unidentifiable, affording Junior many hours of scanning entertainment as he/she discovers, captures, and battles the monsters or obtains the special items lurking within. Monster names purposely are not printed next to the barcodes as doing so would ruin hours of enjoyment. Junior (depending on age) may wish to write the monster names above each barcode as they are discovered, tracking progress. Eventually the day may arrive when Junior will have exhausted the discovery process. At that time (which will be obvious), you should return the index to the book, so that the book may serve as a complete resource for configuring monster battles. The index is easily reattached. Directions are included in the book's preface. The flip side of the index is the special Quick Load section that faces outward allowing immediate scanning through the clear cover. It duplicates all 23 special items (potions, weapons, and magical powers) found in the body of the book, except each is labeled, permitting rapid loading of items during the heat of battle. The 24th item, a poison potion that does damage to one's self, has been omitted from the Quick Load section, but will be found within the book's pages. Quick Load works with both the Commander and the original Skannerz.

The book has 23 pages with removable index, in a clear cover with a slide binder. Color of binder may vary from color shown.
